Design Considerations

There are many considerations to consider in choosing wood floors.  For example, there are many species of wood varying in different shades and colors.  Each species has a different degree of durability and it's own beauty.  We have provided the following aid to help you narrow down your choices to a reasonable few.  The source information and pictures about wood types and species was provided courtesy of the National Wood Flooring Association.

Type of flooring is based on whether the sub surface is plywood or slab.
Choose from strip, plank or parquet
Quality - average, inexpensive or very high quality
Choose from a wide variety of domestic and imported wood species
Shade - you can change natural color of wood species with a variety of commercial stain colors
Finish can be water based or oil based urethane.
Finish sheen can be matte, satin, semi gloss or gloss.
Specialty designs include borders, medallions, hand distressed or exotic woods
